Our Skills
Emerging Media Dynamics draws on a team of wide array of industry experts with the skill, knowledge and experience to quickly analyze the onrush of corporate mergers, technology shifts, evolving business models and government policy changes to keep media, telecommunications, entertainment and technology companies up-to-speed on IP-enabled business opportunities and threats.
Emerging Media Dynamics was founded by veteran analyst Cynthia Brumfield. Ms. Brumfield has honed her expertise through extensive experience at top flight research, trade association and public policy organizations. In 1999, she launched her first advisory services practice and developed the first daily publication devoted to the rapidly developing broadband infrastructure. Prior to this still-ongoing entrepreneurial effort, she served as a Senior Analyst at Paul Kagan Associates , Inc. where she tracked and projected industry trends and served as a lead analyst for several Kagan investment and industry newsletters, including Interactive Television, Broadband TV Technology, and Digital Television. While at Kagan, Ms. Brumfield also organized successful conferences on the broadband businesses and performed strategic advisory consulting work for leading media, communications and technology clients, advising them on a range of strategic broadband technology and service development issues.
Prior to Kagan, Ms. Brumfield served for ten years as Vice President, Research and Policy Analysis at the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, where she initiated, designed and produced a variety of research studies, strategic analyses and policy papers on various communications matters for distribution to Washington policy makers, the press and cable industry executives. Heading a team of in-house research professionals and directing numerous outside economic, public opinion, academic and marketing research consultants, Ms. Brumfield conducted original and secondary research to support the association's legal and public policy objectives in the courts, at federal regulatory bodies and before Congress.
Before joining NCTA, Ms. Brumfield was the Director of Research at the Media Institute, an influential Washington think tank, where, among other things, she authored a landmark study on CNN and how its business and economic coverage compared to the three broadcast networks.
